Installation

Textile Belt Mural

We talked about the possibility of improvising an installation like this. The piece pictured below was made for the CMCA over the course of 3-4 days. It spanned about 30’ long and 10’ tall.

I had an interesting idea about this option - I wonder if Tom Jessen would want to make some collaborative work with me. The process of making this style of work would easily permit a call-and-response with another artist. Tom also has work that is made in collaboration with the public. Maybe we could both design a system for making a collaborative piece, and we both participate in the each other’s creative process. Could be fun. I’d be down for it.

Floor Installation

There’s a lot of different ways to approach this. The installation pictured below was pretty dense. Something that might work would be a linear sequence of these pieces that show a progression in size. It’s also possible to just choose a singular large example.

“Bound” at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art

This piece has never been shown before. It’s probably about 40” in diameter

Portal

This installation was up at Parsonage Gallery a few years back. I have all the components to it, and can consider doing something new with them. There are definitely novel ways to orient these “rings” in space. This would be a bit challenging though considering the tricky ceiling topography.

Convergence

This installation was originally made for an exhibition at UNE. It has flexible construction/design which allows me to reimagine in various new forms. I find this process of repurposing installations particularly interesting.

“Convergence” at UNE

“Convergence (droplet phase)” - This piece will be shown like this at the SVA gallery in NYC this fall

“Convergence (parabolic phase)” - Requires 8 attachment points to the ceiling.

“Convergence (comb jelly phase)” -This orientation would only require a single attachment point to hang.

“Convergence (polypod phase)” - it’s also possible to install this piece on the floor

Convex Concentrics 48" wide x 55” high x 8” deep

(2021)

Satellite 42" wide x 60" high x 42" deep

A Round About Way to Get There (w/schematic drawing)

I really like this piece and it’s never been shown before

54” wide x 65” high x 5” deep

(2023)

Ascending Order

this piece is at least 9’ tall (exact dims tbd)

it’s made of packing peanuts and is super light, so it could likely be hung via your magnet system

Video

Here are two videos I made while documenting the UnEarth installation back in 2020.

“Cosmic Thread” Screenprint

This is still a work in progress, but it will certainly be completed by 2025.

Even though it’s a bit of a departure from the “reused/repurposed” theme, it’s also a demonstration of a way that I’m documenting/reproducing an ephemeral installation.
